THE OSSEO ALLIANCE: BUILDING A GLOBAL FUTURE FOR DENTAL EDUCATION

The European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) and the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) are delighted to announce the launch of a ground-breaking new partnership called the Osseo Alliance. This will bring together the two largest implant organisations in the world, offering unique benefits for professionals and patients.

Both partners see the alliance as a game-changer that will alter the face of dental implant education for decades to come. It will capitalise on their joint expertise to positively impact research, knowledge and practice across continents.

The Osseo Alliance has been spearheaded by Professor Hom-Lay Wang, President of the AO, and Professor Ronald E. Jung, President of the EAO. Both presidents believe this is a unique opportunity for dental education to become more global, and to break down intercontinental barriers.

The Alliance’s inaugural initiative involves convening a joint US-European consensus conference, uniting leading global experts in the field to harness the latest scientific knowledge. One of the focuses will be making sure the outcomes are accessible to a global audience. The partners see the Osseo Alliance as a key way of increasing the impact of scientific research, thereby facilitating the integration of acquired knowledge into everyday implant practice to the ultimate benefit of patients.

Talking about the Alliance, Ronald E. Jung said:

A partnership between Europe and North America sends a very strong signal to the global community, as these regions drive many of the initiatives and much of the research in implant dentistry. Ultimately we hope that the Alliance will involve more regions and become truly global.

Hom-Lay Wang added:

As the two largest implant organisations in the world, we believe we can use our reach and expertise to transcend borders and provide valuable insights that have an international application. Our mantra is: together we are stronger.

With over 70 years combined history between them, and a track-record as leaders in dental education, the AO and the EAO are poised to take dental education to the next level. Joint consensus conferences will be the first of many significant initiatives spearheaded by the Osseo Alliance. The partnership marks an exciting new era for both associations as they shape the future of dental education together.
